When you think of a hatchback with 252 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, good gas milage is probably far from being in the list of top priorities, but would you complain if it came with the package anyway?

Ford’s new hot hatch, the Focus ST is bringing North Americans what was formerly a Euro-only mentality for the brand, but maintaining impressive fuel consumption figures at the same time. America’s newest hot hatch is EPA certified at 23 mpg around town and 32 mpg on the highway with a growing fan base including the likes of legendary racer Ken block.

“The handling’s good in the ST, it’s definitely a fun, quick car that enjoys being driven hard. I’m actually eagerly awaiting mine to be delivered later this year,” he said.

What’s more impressive than the early accolades and intriguing performance is the fact that Ford managed to provide 92 extra hp while only sacrificing  4 mpg on the highway and 3 in the city compared to the standard Focus. There isn’t long to wait until they hit dealerships either: expect them this fall with a $24,495 price tag.
